Yes. First dances and parent dances can often be performed live, especially when the song fits the band’s instrumentation, style, and arrangement approach. We generally recommend shortening special dances to around 2.5 minutes unless you are a dance-heavy couple, have a choreographed routine, or specifically want the full song. A shorter version usually feels natural, keeps guests engaged, and helps the moment land without dragging on. Some couples have us perform the first dance live and use Spotify for parent dances. Others use their special requests for songs they want the band to reinterpret, extend, or jam out later in the reception, while keeping formal dances closer to the original recording. Both approaches can work well. When a special dance is played from Spotify or a playlist, we can fade the track out at the appropriate time so the moment ends naturally instead of having to play the full recording.
